The Ref's Room Ref of the Month - October 2019

Amanda Morra hockey referee in the Canadian Women's Hockey League

The Ref's Room's October 2019 Ref of the Month is Amanda Morra!

A longtime official hailing from Pickering, Ontario, Amanda Morra comes from a family of hockey referees.

After finishing a successful playing collegiate playing career at Queen's University, Amanda has set her sights on rising through the officiating ranks.  She has been on quite the run of late!

She has achieved her Hockey Canada Level 5 certification, which is the highest certification level in the women's game.  This is a highly prestigious honour, and is run in tandem with the Hockey Canada Level 6 Seminar.

Amanda was regularly refereeing in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), the highest level of professional women's hockey, until the league ceased operations this summer.

She also works in the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL), Ontario's highest level of junior women's hockey.  This past season she was selected to referee the Gold Medal Game of the league finals!

If all of that wasn't enough, Amanda got the invite this summer to attend the NHL Exposure Combine in Buffalo, New York!  This was truly an honour to be one of the first women invited to attend the NHL's primary scouting camp.

Congrats Amanda on all of your accomplishments in the hockey refereeing world!  We look forward to seeing what's in store for you next!
